Into the Light, the follow-up album from solo project Wandering Soul, explores a different context from its predecessor. With a wide array of guitar tones ranging from warm classical nylon arpeggios to sputtery lo-fi fuzz melodies, creative songwriting structures and unexpected interludes weave the listener between states of consciousness as the soul wanders onward.
Deep sleep: In this life, the soul's memory has been in deep sleep, dreaming this life into existence with no recollection of past existences. This song explores the landscapes of a slowly waking consciousness destined for return Into the Light.
Eggshell skylight: As the dream of living nears its end, the soul catches a glimpse of its eternal and infinite nature. In the unexpected fuzz-drenched interlude, the eggshell of mortality becomes translucent momentarily, creating awe-struck anxiety as the soul gazes through a skylight beyond the farthest depths of the universe.
Ebb & flow: A hypnotizing chord progression guides the soul through reflection upon its current life, exploring the varying current of life's joys and woes and the realization that where life begins is also where it ends.
Final lament: The classical guitar sings a bittersweet eulogy to the soul's earthly life while electric guitars rejoice and lament the experience and passing of another existence.
Eternal greeting: The soul is greeted by a welcomed return into the foreign yet familiar dimension beyond mortality. This song stirs, builds, and evolves with anxious dying gasps of the rhythm guitar and the melodic newborn cries of the leads.
Into the light: Accounting for the soul's experience of the simultaneous end of one existence and the beginning of another, this classical guitar piece has been augmented with backwards electric guitar chords, a palpable bassline, powerful yet simplistic leads, and a steady processed drum beat as the listener is led Into the Light.
